Oyster Gardening and Restoration

Oyster restoration is happening on Fishers Creek. This effort is helping to improve the overall health of the creek.  This spring, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation has helped us with these activities. See how you can contact CBF to participate here.

Oyster shells have been placed to extend the shore line preservation.  Two hundred marsh Grass plugs were placed behind the bags.  Hopefully this will stop the erosion and bring back the marsh grasses to Fishers Creek.

Oysters DELIVERED!

300 oyster shell bags are staged on a pier. They were added to the 200 oyster shell bags placed last year in the shore line preservation project.

The last phase of oyster placement was successful! Oyster spat has attached to last years oyster bags. They even have attached to sticks and an old Pepsi bottle.
